Hopeful Update.....

First of all, thank you everyone for your prayers and support. Waiting for news has been a difficult thing for me to deal with. Fortunately, Kevin is always optimistic and has been a rock during this whole journey. He keeps reminding me that until God says "No", that we are to persevere in order to bring Bella home.

This whole process has revealed, once again, how weak I really am. When the going gets tough, my nature is to pull back and hide. Shamefully, I think, wouldn't it just be easier to quit? However, this time, that is not an option. A little girl's life is at stake, so I push forward, leaning on God and the people He has placed in my life. What a humbling place to be...

Now for the hopeful update! Here is what our agency said yesterday regarding our adoption process:

"No news is really, good news. If the SDA was going to reject it they already would have and the facilitator would have let me know. We should have a travel date for them before the 20th (most likely sooner but they legally have that long) so in the next 2 weeks they will for sure know when they will travel."

Doesn't that sound good? I'll keep you posted. And, your prayers are still appreciated! Love, Paula

  1. This news sounds very positive. You're going to be there before you know it, keep the faith and wait for God. The waiting is hard... I waited 5 months between trips to Russia which is very long and not the norm. Many times I felt so discouraged and hopeless, but God's timing was perfect and Elijah is home safe and sound.:) You're almost there and until you get there, God is watching over your precious Bella!

  2. Hello Paula! Your husband forwarded the news link to my husband who forwarded it to me. =) What a beautiful story and journey you are on to bring your sweet Bella home. I get excited when I see stories like this in the news!! I enjoyed reading through your blog a bit and had to shed a few tears as I could relate with many of the feelings you have felt through this journey. We are on the same journey to add a child to our family...and have experience many "potholes" along the way. God is still so good! Blessings to you!! We'll keep following your story here. =)

  4. Beautiful Burkhart Family! I just saw the KMOT video (linked from the Trinity website). We are excited for you. We will definitely be keeping Gracie especially in our prayers. I can't believe how much she has grown since we left Minot. Wow! 6. Our first SDA appointment was July 26 and we held our boy for the first time July 30 (almost two years ago!) It will come quickly. Ukraine is HOT and without fans/AC during much of the summer, and most of the government/courts are closed in August. I know it sounds hard to wait, but it would be easier to get past the majority of holidays and vacations! Praying peace for you!
